After languishing since November, all sewed up and waiting for me to decide what to do with the neckline, St. Brigid is finally complete.

And what did I decide to do with the neckline? Exactly what Alice said to do. But there wasn't a good picture of the neckline in the book. (Aran Knitting, for the curious)

People on the St. Brigid KAL have been discussing the yardage requirements. Since mine is out of handspun, and I either didn't check/don't remember the yardage I had, I'm of no help. But here's what I had leftover. Ignore the fuzziness and flash blindness, you can still get a feel for just how close I was.

And on my monitor, that ball of yarn is really close to the beautiful deep purple she is in real life.
So now that St. Brigid is finished, I have the foaming waves socks and the eyelet cardi on the needles. The eyelet cardi is in the work back and forth around the body stage, so rows are long. And stockinette. Yawn.
Naturally, that makes Kristi want to cast on something else. There was a lace cardigan I remembered loving in one of my pattern books and some beautiful pink cotton. Since Monday is Valentine's Day, I thought it was very appropriate for me to start it. Wait a minute, that cardigan isn't as lovely as I remembered it. But, I'm in the mood for one, so let the designing commence. I'll try to have a little progress for tomorrow.
And, I'm spinning some free wool that one of my mom's neighbors gave to me. It's from meat sheep, but you know, it's not half bad. I sent it to Wooly Knob for processing, and they did a great job with it. Our fiber guild meets Tuesday and we're going to try to get a woman to spin that has owned a wheel for a year. She won't spin because she's afraid she's going to mess up. Well, if you consider anything less than professional mill-spun messing up, I think all of us are still messing up, and having a ball doing so. If I want perfectly smooth yarn, I'll buy it. Concentrating that hard on perfection is besides the point of spinning, at least for me.
I'll see you back here tomorrow, probably late since I get to work over on Valentine's Day. That's just not right.
And I hope to have some good news to report later on this week. Just send encouraging, positive career thoughts my way. Thanks!
